This area of The Great Wall is about a three hour drive from Beijing and making it possible to avoid the large number of tourists closer to the city. Because it had rained the night before, most of the air pollution had been cleared, leaving spectacular late afternoon and twilight conditions from which to experience this World Wonder site for the first time.
